The Perpetual Nature of Our Sanctification
Series The Book of Hebrews
In 10:11-14, the writer continues to stress the superiority of Christ's once-for-all sacrifice over the repetitive, shadowy rituals of the Old Testament, emphasizing that while the law's sacrifices were divinely instituted and symbolically meaningful, they could never truly remove sin or perfect the conscience.
The contrast is stark: whereas the earthly priests stood daily, endlessly repeating their rites, Christ, having offered Himself once, sat down at God's right hand, signifying a finished, eternal work.
Therefore, believers are not only sanctified in the past through Christ's sacrifice but are presently and eternally considered holy in God's sight, a reality secured not by human effort but by the timeless, atemporal efficacy of Christ's perfect offering. This truth, rooted in the present reality of being perfected, calls for confident faith and transformative living, as the believer's identity is now defined by Christ's finished work, not by the ongoing struggle with sin.
