Consistent Joy: An Evidence of Christian Maturity
“For To Me To Live is Christ, and To Die Is Gain”
Main idea: Paul rejoices because of his future!
• His own salvation (18b-20)
That he will not be ashamed
That he will have courage
That Christ will be honored in his body
Whether by life
Or by death
• His Christ-centered philosophy of life (21)
For to me to live is Christ
And to die is gain
• His gut-wrenching choice (22-26)
His desire to depart and be with Christ (23)
His duty to stay and help the Philippians (24)
• His mission (25-26)
I will remain and continue with you (25)
That you might glory in Christ because of my coming (26)
Applications:
Be ready to face Jesus “without shame”—
honoring Christ in our bodies.
Stay the course in Christian ministry,
rather than bail when things get difficult!
Have a Christ-centered philosophy of life and mission!
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!”
