The Results of Sin

Aim: To understand and abhor sin; and to grow in our fear of the Lord.

Exegesis: Sin results in disfavor with God. Sin is cosmic treason (v. 1a), and always leads to judgment (v. 1b). Sin results in delusion with self. It catches us off-guard (v. 2), and makes us oblivious to danger (v. 3). Sin results in defeat with enemies. Our power is sapped (vv. 4-5a), and our confidence is sapped (v. 5b).
