The Longest Day
Series Series in Joshua
Aim: To realize that a wonderful miracle of old fashions and strengthens our faith as well.
Exegesis: The longest day affords us the opportunity to exercise diligent faith in God. We must respond to God's call (v. 7), and we must act on God's promises (vv. 8-9). The longest day affords us the opportunity to exercise exuberant faith in God. The Lord fights through us (v. 10) and independently of us (v. 11). The longest day affords us the opportunity to exercise prayerful faith in God. We ought to ask for great things (v. 12) and expect great results (v. 13a). The longest day affords us the opportunity to exercise encouraged faith in God. Ours is a powerful (v. 13b) and personal (vv. 14-15) God.
Key Verse: v. 13 ''So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.''
