7-Glorification

At the final Passover, Jesus said many remarkable things, not the least of which was this:

I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes (Luke 22:18).

To what was he referring? Some think he had just been drinking the first (or last) cup of the Jewish Passover; his next drink would be at the setting up of the new-covenant Lord's supper. I do not give this credence for a moment. The heavy negative tone (see the original) of Christ's words, the powerful 'from now on... until the kingdom of God comes', cannot be a reference to the very short time between the ending of the old Passover celebration and the setting up of the new-covenant ordinance – which all happened on that one occasion.
