I Sing for Joy

Have you ever been thirsty? Really thirsty, to the point where you could think of nothing but water? I still remember a two-mile walk home from a distant field where I was cutting hay one hot summer day many years ago. I had no water along, and by the time I got home, the thirst was extreme. In the psalm before us, the king speaks first of his thirst for the Living God, and then uses a pattern of images to describe searching for and finding his divine Father. The king in the wilderness illustrates what it means for us to seek God and to see Him.
