Thesis: True believers are disciplined by God to repent of their sin.

* Corrective action by the Lord to train, correct, make more godly his children.

* God is holy - hates sin, whether in the unrepentant or the believer.

* Be obedient

II APPEAL TO GOD'S STEADFAST LOVE AND GLORY (v. 4-5)

• The truly repentant can call upon God's grace, the merciful, loving God that has saved them.

III RELIEF FROM SUFFERING GRANTED (v. 8-10)

• God grants relief to the repentant believer who comes to Him in faith.

CONCLUSION

• Confess sin, repent from it, acknowledge that discipline is needed, in faith, ask God for mercy and grace.
