Philippians 2:9-11 GR 626

Paul is not in the midst of giving a development of Christology or a full development of the person and work of Christ. He is emphasizing to the Philippian Christians why it is so crucial for them to function with humility before God and before one another. It is easy for believers to forget the basic principle that at best we are fallen humanity. We are nothing more than hell-deserving sinners, but by the grace of God we have been redeemed. Arrogance and pride can so easily seep back into our relationships with other believers that we forget we are simply redeemed sinners. When that happens we begin to deal with one another in arrogance and pride.
