Stopping Abortion
Series abortion
How should we think about abortion?
- All abortion from conception kills a human baby.
- All human life is created by God and belongs to God.
Genesis 1:27 - God created man in His own image, Psalm 100.3 It is He who made us, Psalm 17:14 God fills the womb with treasure, Acts 17:25 God gives life, also Psalm 139 - Therefore, Abortion is murder. God demands life for life (Genesis 9:6, Exodus 21). As humans, babies in the womb deserve the full protection of law
- Every Abortion has at least 3 victims - the baby, the mother, and the father. Plus, siblings, grandparents, and so. All suffer loss and harm.
- We must apply the gospel to the mother who has aborted her baby, and to the father who participated by abandonment, encouraging abortion, got a woman pregnant outside of marriage, or was just an unknowing victim.
How did we get here? Because Christian men have not lived as godly men - Psalm 15 describes a godly man - who swears to his own hurt. This means a man must be faithful and responsible. Women often turn to abortion when they feel abandoned. A responsible man who is involved with a woman who becomes pregnant as a result. That man has a life-long duty of care regardless of whether the couple marries because, either explicitly or implicitly, a promise was made.
Godly, Psalm 15 men live in contrast to the ungodly man described in Romans 1, Colossians, and especially 1 Timothy 3:1-5
Christian men living as Psalm 15 godly men is the best road to overcome the evil of abortion - Romans 12:21 overcome evil by good.
We should petition government for a redress of this grievance.
Finally, no man is sufficient for these things. We need the gospel and the Holy Spirit.
