The Engrafted Word (Part 2)

James 1:21 instructs us to receive the truth and teaching of God's Word with meekness of heart. In so doing, this verse describes God's Holy Word as “the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” In fact, throughout James 1:18-25 we find a series of descriptions concerning God's Word that reveal the wondrous treasure that the Lord our God has granted unto us in giving us His Holy Word.

1. The Truthful Word – “The word of truth.” (v. 18)

2. The Regenerating Word – “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth.” (v. 18)

3. The Engrafted (Implanted) Word – “The engrafted word.” (v. 21)

4. The Transforming Word – “The engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.” (v. 21)

5. The Revealing Word – “He is like unto a man beholding . . .: for he beholdeth himself.” (vs. 23-24)

6. The Perfect Word – “The perfect law of liberty.” (v. 25)

7. The Authoritative Word – “The perfect law of liberty.” (v. 25)

8. The Liberating Word – “The perfect law of liberty.” (v. 25)
