God Calls Gideon

Gideon is one of the greatest of Israel's judges. The details of his life and leadership are preserved in 100 verses of the Old Testament's history.

Israel has settled into a spiritual pattern of idolatry that prevails even in Gideon's home. The nation of Midian has subjugated Israel taking control from the northern area. After seven years of pain, hardship and starvation they cry out to the Lord.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and instructed him to deliver Israel. Gideon realizes he is in the presence of the Divine as he is confronted by "the angel of the Lord."
Gideon is instructed to begin ridding the nation of its idolatry by starting in his own family. He demonstrates that being a faithful servant of the Lord doesn't mean you are fearless...Gideon is afraid of his father and his own household - but he obeys God even in the midst of his fearful circumstances.

His obedience will prove to be a turning point for the entire nation as he is used mightily by God.
