The Need for Holiness in Spiritual Warfare (Joshua 7-8)

Today we are looking at the need for holiness in spiritual warfare. In Joshua's day, Israel was supposed to be the angel of death bringing judgment upon the wicked, as a picture of the final judgment.

If you are going to serve as a stand-in for Jesus, then you had better be holy!

And that's not just the case for the OT people of God! After all, we are called to bring the message of salvation to the nations!

And so we are called to be holy as he is holy!

What does it mean to be holy? In our text for tonight we see how it means to be faithful to God. That his ways would be more important to us than our own desires.

Because when we seek first our own kingdoms, the result is invariably that we harm others.
