Two Sorts of Theologian

In Theses 19-21, Luther lays out the two sorts of theologians there are. On the one hand there are bad theologians who do not really deserve the name, theologians of glory who think they can see God clearly through their own experience and the created world. On the other hand there are those who truly deserve to be called theologians, theologians of the Cross, who gaze on the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ and see God revealed most wonderfully there. And what we see affects what we speak, so that those who look for glory call evil good and good evil; while those who look on the cross speak of things as they really are.
