Colossians 1 - Part 38 - What is Lacking in Christ's Afflictions?

: Here Paul speaks of his part in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions. The work of salvation was forever accomplished on the cross by our Lord Jesus Christ. But now He is the head of a new body which is His body and His Church. In this body we are called on to share in all that is going on in His body and to enter into the afflictions or tribulations that we are called on to endure as we love the saints. As the Scripture instructs us to rejoice with those who rejoice and to weep with those who weep.
