Hebrews 10:19-21 the writer deliberately rephrases Jeremiah's new covenant prophecy, to emphasize that the true recipients of this covenant are not merely ethnic Israel but the universal church—spiritual descendants of Abraham, now united in Christ. But this is accomplished by the work of Christ, our high priest, who provides His people access, described as a "new and living way", which tore the temple veil, symbolizing the removal of the barrier between humanity and God.
