Colossians 1:6 (Part 1)

In the opening phrase of Colossians 1:6, Paul reminds the believers that the Gospel "is come unto you." This is not a casual statement about travel. It is a declaration of divine arrival. The Gospel did not originate in Colossae, nor did it rise from their culture or philosophy. It came to them by revelation and proclamation. Just as the word of the Lord "came" to the prophets in the Old Testament, so the message of Christ arrived with authority and life. Christianity does not begin with man searching upward but with God speaking downward. The Gospel must not merely circulate around us; it must come unto us personally. When it does, it takes residence, confronts the heart, and begins its transforming work. This clause alone exalts Christ above geography, above human reasoning, and above religious invention. The Word came because Christ reigns, and when the Gospel truly comes, life begins.
