Christ Prays for Himself

I. Let us learn why Jesus prays for Himself (vv. 1-5).
•Just saying that Jesus prays for himself may seem a bit odd. Is Jesus selfish? Self-centered? Absolutely not! In fact, his prayer for himself reveals something majestic and humbling.
THE POINT: He asked to be glorified because that was God’s purpose and wanted to be glorified so that He could glorify the Father.
Applications
- Pray so that you can endure the trial and not escape it.
- Pray according to God’s will.
- Pray with confidence in God your heavenly Father.
- Pray with an eye to God’s glory.
- Pray while being persuaded of God’s good and wise providence.
- Pray as a sinner in need.
- Know that your prayers are heard on account of Christ’s sacrificial death and mediation.
