Love for God

Most of us know what it means to trust Christ for salvation. But how many of us know what it means to treasure Him in our hearts. This is love for God. God is not interested in a part-time compartmentalized faith. What He requires of His children is nothing less than whole life devotion to Him. God abhors divided hearts that cling to the things of this earth. That is spiritual idolatry. Idols of the heart are dangerous. Hence, John's final warning at the end of his first epistle: 'My little children, guard yourselves from idols' (1 Jn. 5:21).
