Anger, Pity and Deliverance of a City

Nineveh repents, God relents and Jonah is so angry he wants to die. Jonah thinks he knows better than God what needs to happen to the Ninevites. He is extremely angry that God did not carry out the destruction of Nineveh. God gave Jonah a lesson in compassion and God's sovereignty. When Jonah tells God twice to take his life, God responds twice with the question "do you have good reason to be angry"? God wants Jonah to examine his own heart - an excellent thing for us to do when we are overcome with anger.
