Why an Unchanging God is Good News
Series 2026 Belzoni Bible Conference
Rev. Derrick Brite delivered the third and final message of our Winter Bible Conference at our evening worship service.
In Malachi 3:6, the unchanging nature of God is revealed as the foundation of His people's assurance and hope, despite their persistent sin, unfaithfulness, and spiritual declension. The passage confronts the people's doubts about God's justice and presence, rooted in their own failure to honor Him through tithing, worship, and justice, yet God declares His immutability—His self-existent, eternal, and unchanging character—as the reason they have not been consumed. This divine constancy, rooted in His covenant name Yahweh, guarantees the permanence of His promises and the security of salvation, even when believers falter. The call to repentance is not a threat of abandonment but an invitation to return, grounded in God's steadfast love and willingness to bless those who bring their offerings and test His faithfulness. Ultimately, the passage affirms that God remains the unchanging refuge for all who turn to Him, offering restoration, renewal, and overflowing grace to those who return in faith.
