[02/15/2026 PM] - "Practical Christian Living in Times of Hardship" - Matthew 5:11-16
The evening sermon will be the final in our study of Belgic Confession Article 36 guided by Scripture. So we come to Matthew 5.11-16 and that last part of BC 36 and ask some hard questions. One I will ask is are we more upset by abortion on demand (that vile, heinous crime) than by blasphemy? And, what is the relationship between the riots on the street in Minneapolis and the Super Bowl/Daytona 500 on the Lord's day? We need to face these questions and find answers in God's Word and our Reformed standards.
Matthew 5:11-16 Practical Christian Living in Times of Hardship
Belgic Confession Article 36 #3
Theme: Our Lord calls us to righteous living even when the rulers rule unrighteously
The context of our living is both before God and before men
We want government to rule well, but that will not always happen
Our duty is to be salt and light in both civil circumstances
For our greater purpose is life for the glory of God
