The Mitigated Judgment of God; God Judges His People Lightly

Three key lessons in concluding Jeremiah. First is the promise of a final and full salvation. Second the promise of completion of the law of retribution. God will judge the nations. And lastly the grace of mitigation in the judgment of God's own people. He gives us measured correction for our sins instead of a full and final retribution. How is this possible and what does this teach us about what our attitude should be in the face of difficulty and suffering?
