The Unchanging God and His Perfect Gifts
Series 2026 Belzoni Bible Conference
Derrick Brite preached the second session of our conference during our morning worship service.
The sermon centers on the unchanging nature of God—His immutability—as the foundation of hope and strength in the Christian's ongoing struggle against sin and temptation. Drawing from James 1:12–18, it emphasizes that temptation originates not from God, but from within human lust, which, when indulged, leads inevitably to spiritual death. Yet, rather than leaving believers in despair, the passage points to God's immutable character as the ultimate defense: because He does not change, His good and perfect gifts—especially salvation in Christ—remain constant and trustworthy. Rev. Brite urges believers to fix their eyes on this unchanging God, whose faithfulness and generosity surpass fleeting, destructive desires, offering rest, redemption, and assurance that no good thing will be withheld from those who belong to Him.
