Changes to the Resurrected Body
Series 1 Corinthians series
Paul was contrasting the natural or physical body of the believer that dies with the one that will be resurrected. He emphasizes four drastic changes that will occur:
- It is sown 'in' corruption, raised 'in' incorruption.
- It is sown 'in' dishonor (humiliation), raised 'in' glory.
- It is sown 'in' weakness, raised 'in' power.
- It is sown a natural/soulish body having been made a living, physical being by the Spirit (2:14), raised as a totally transformed body by the power of the Spirit. The believer now living in their physical body has but a 'down payment' of the Spirit as a guarantee of that totally transforming change He will yet do.
This body raised and transformed will be made suitable to be in the glorious presence of the Lord.
