Changes to the Resurrected Body

Paul was contrasting the natural or physical body of the believer that dies with the one that will be resurrected. He emphasizes four drastic changes that will occur:

  1. It is sown 'in' corruption, raised 'in' incorruption.
  2. It is sown 'in' dishonor (humiliation), raised 'in' glory.
  3. It is sown 'in' weakness, raised 'in' power.
  4. It is sown a natural/soulish body having been made a living, physical being by the Spirit (2:14), raised as a totally transformed body by the power of the Spirit. The believer now living in their physical body has but a 'down payment' of the Spirit as a guarantee of that totally transforming change He will yet do.

This body raised and transformed will be made suitable to be in the glorious presence of the Lord.
