Psalm 132 — God’s Covenant Promise and the Coming King

Psalm 132 is one of the most historically rich Songs of Ascents. As pilgrims traveled to Jerusalem, they sang of David's zeal for God's dwelling, the ark of the covenant, and the Lord's covenant promise of an enduring King.
In this episode of Walking Through the Psalms, Dave Jenkins explores:
• David's priority of God's presence over personal comfort.
• The joy and reverence of biblical worship.
• The Davidic Covenant in 2 Samuel 7.
• God's choosing of Zion as His dwelling place.
• The ultimate fulfillment of these promises in Jesus Christ.
Psalm 132 reminds us that true worship is grounded in God's presence and God's promises — not human enthusiasm or religious performance, but covenant faithfulness.
This psalm ultimately points beyond David and Zion to Christ, the true Son of David, the eternal King, and the true dwelling place of God with His people.
God is not absent.
God is not forgetful.
God is not late.
He keeps His covenant promises in Christ.
