Laying Foundations(Sanctification)

We begin a new series on Sanctification. Having just read the book, "Devoted to God", by Rev.Sinclair Ferguson, Pastor Terry Dowds begins a new series using much of this life changing book.

Believers sometimes get a shiver down their spine when a preacher preaches on holiness. This is perhaps because it causes us to realize a sense of failure.

Sanctification is not justification. In the latter, we receive the righteousness of Christ. None of us will be perfected in this world and new believers often lose their enthusiasm when trials come. We may find we are not as committed as we thought or should be.

We look at Peter who, like many of us, learned lessons the hard way. We must remember that our Lord died that we might be sanctified.To live for Christ means devotion and the trials will bring wonderful opportunities for growth and prepare us for the future Glory.
