Acts: 2:22-23; Rom 1 - Sovereignty of God in salvation always preached w/free & sincere offer of salvation to any & all who come to Christ
e.g. Jn 6:37 - This gospel preaching has been greatly used by God for salvation of many through leading evangelists of Methodists, Baptists, & Lutherans.
Doctrine:
Jn 5:21-23, This preaching produces appropriate honor & humility before God our savior.
J.I. Packer, 'The new gospel conspicuously fails to produce deep reverence, deep repentance, deep humility, a spirit of worship, a concern for the church... [It] tells us that we are, after all, what sin taught us to think we were -- masters of our fate, captain of our souls -- & so undermines the very foundation of man's religious relationship with his Maker. It can hardly be wondered at that the converts of the new gospel are so often both irreverent & irreligious, for such is the natural tendency of this teaching.'
