Three Things God Will Not Do For You

Paul's commands—seek things above, set your affections on things above, and mortify earthly desires—are responsibilities God gives to believers, not works to earn salvation. When these are attempted without genuine conversion, they turn into empty performance, hypocrisy, and religious conflict. We must guard against substituting man-made rules, opinions, or emotional attachments for spiritual truth, and against trying to make unbelievers act like Christians. Instead, believers are called to examine themselves daily, rely fully on Christ's forgiveness, walk humbly, and set their affections on heavenly things.
