Lecture 12 | The Kingdom of God in the Four Gospels
The kingdom of God was first announced by Jesus, proclaimed by His disciples and the early apostles in the Acts of the Apostles. This concept is not about an earthly kingdom as a territory ruled by a king; it has an abstract meaning of rule or dominion, sovereignty; it was "within." This kingship of Jesus was refused by the nation of Israel, but given to a people who would bring forth its necessary fruit to God. Jesus called for the news of the kingdom to be shared with all nations. Its demands are radical, set out in the Sermon on the Mount. One needs the enabling of the Holy Spirit to make it known.
