The Right & Power of Faith
Series 1689 Confession - Saving Faith
The Acts of Accepting and Receiving bring the Right and the Power to be a Christian and Live the Christian Life.
John 1: 11 & 12 – "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right (KJV – the power) to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Question # 1 – John says here that Jesus came to His own people, the Jews, but they did not receive Him. What do you think were some of the reasons that they did not receive Him?
Answer: They were sinners who did not see themselves as sinners. To them – He was not impressive a Man in His beauty or physical strength. He did not come as a political leader to deliver them from Roman domination. The leaders of His own people did not care for Him or approve of Him because He did not submit to their false system of religion which added to and took away from the truth of the Scriptures. In the final analysis, it was as it says in Isaiah 53: 2 & 3 – "He had no form or comeliness; and when we saw Him, there was no beauty that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him."
