The Writing on the Wall

Belshazzar committed sacrilege when he and his revellers praised their gods while drinking wine from the sacred vessels taken from the Temple of Jerusalem. But God is jealous of His name and His Word. Belshazzar discovered that, as Puritan Thomas Adams put it: "That which a man spits against heaven shall fall back upon his own face." All it took to turn Belshazzar into a quaking pile of bones was a hand writing on a wall.
