Grapes of Wrath

Idea: God has given Jesus Christ, the Anointed Son, the authority to judge. Let us honor God as holy and fear Him with godly fear as a just judge.

God is a God of vengeance. We hear words like this and read them in the Bible and often, as Motyer says, we recoil from it. We don't want to think of God being a God of vengeance. We don't want to think of the wrath of God or the great throne of judgment. We recoil from it. But, as Motyer continues, “But sober reflection warns us that our reaction is not to be trusted. We know nothing of the emotions proper to absolute holiness, the just, merited and inevitable final settlement between God and all that defiles and opposes.”
