Jesus’ Compassion on the Way to the Cross: “Father, Forgive Them”

On the way to the cross, Jesus shows astonishing compassion. Though falsely accused, brutally beaten, and led to be crucified, He turns His attention away from His own suffering and toward others—warning the daughters of Jerusalem and praying for His enemies: "Father, forgive them." In Luke 23:27–34 we see the mercy of Christ, the danger of spiritual blindness, and the hope of forgiveness for sinners who repent and believe. This message calls us to behold Jesus' compassion, confess our sin, and respond with faith, humility, and a willingness to forgive as we have been forgiven.
