"I Shall Live and Expose the Friars." This sermon describes how Wycliffe claimed this text when the friars came to "console" him and "hear his confession" from what they supposed would be his death-bed in 1381. After having endured the dissembling of the hypocritical friars who feigned concern for his condition, Wycliffe asked his servant to raise him a little on his pillow, and in a loud voice shouted, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the evil deeds of the friars."
