Graduation Day for the New Kingdom Scribes

Graduation Day for New Kingdom Scribes (Mt 13:51-52)
Intro: Importance of kingdom & kingdom understanding
We're saved through the gospel, but for the kingdom. The kingdom answers the question, 'What now?' (Lk 12:31, Lk 18:29, Mt 19:12)

Exposition: What we've understood & what we're to do now
A. Have You Understood All These Things? (v51)
(1) Sower: How does kingdom come, grow, & change world?
Application: Kingdom comes one heart at a time (Ps 110:3). Take heed how you hear word of kingdom.

(3 & 4) Mustard Seed & Leaven: What's future for kingdom?
Application: 'A man full of hope will be full of action' (T. Brooks). Kingdom is going to grow & spread throughout world, through you. Now get going. Don't expect everything at once.

(5 & 6) Hidden Treasure & Pearl: How does this change your life?
Application: Be prepared to joyfully give, because you are gaining infinitely more. Watch against divided heart, love of world which steals away your affection.

(2 & 7) Tares & Dragnet: Separation & what about mixture?
Application: The Lord doesn't want separation, but a harvest (Jn 17:15-18).

B. Bring Out Things New & Old (v52).
You're now like the head of a household who can provide of your substance. These truths have not been given simply to instruct you, but to fit you to instruct others, to bring this rebellious world under Christ's dominion. The kingdom is the dominion of God in the earth through a mediator. Go make God's invisible reign visible.
