Winning Against Temptation
Series Gospel of Luke
We are all tempted, and temptation itself is not a sin. Temptation is in the mind and the feelings. Sin occurs when we succumb to temptation. Jesus was tempted, but He never sinned. In every one of those temptations, the devil attempted to counter God's identification of Jesus as God's beloved Son. Identity confusion is the reason people can affirm one thing and do another. You start to see yourself as special or hopeless, and thus the boundaries don't apply to you. The devil also conceals the consequences of sin. The devil tempts us to gratify our God-given needs apart from His God-given Word. Beloved, it is one thing to believe in God, it is another thing to believe God. When we are tempted, we must run to Jesus in prayer and stand on God's Word.
