Denial is a powerful weapon in the hands of sinners. It is an enemy of faith.
Why would Peter deny Jesus?
- Pride
- Prayerlessness
- Pursuit of knowledge (but not of Jesus)
- imPetuosity
- Providence
In Providence we also see the saving grace of God. No sooner had Peter denied Jesus the third time, then the rooster crowed interrupting Peter's curse upon himself.
In Jesus' eyes, Peter saw not wrath and condemnation, but the love of his beloved.
