OPEN THE HEAVENS—CLEAN THE HOUSE
Series The Book of Joel
OPEN THE HEAVENS—CLEAN THE HOUSE.This message calls God's people back to the biblical pattern of true revival. Throughout Scripture, rain represents God's favor, refreshing, and restoring power—but rain never falls where repentance is resisted. From Joel 2:23, we are reminded that God desires to send both the former and the latter rain, bringing restoration and renewal to His people. Yet this promise is connected to preparation of the heart.First, we must cry for heaven to open (Zechariah 10:1), recognizing that only God can send spiritual rain. Revival is not produced by programs or emotion, but by humble dependence on the Lord.Second, we must circle the altar and cry for salvation (Psalm 118:25). Like Israel's cry of "Save us now," revival begins with a desperate call for deliverance—personally, corporately, and eternally. Finally, we must clean the house to receive the blessing (1 Corinthians 5:7). God pours out His presence where sin is confessed, pride is removed, and hearts are made ready. Cleansing always precedes blessing. What must God remove before He can pour out?Revival comes when heaven is invited, the altar is surrounded, and the house is clean—then God sends the rain.
