Which way are your leaning?

The enemy is at the gates not some far off land. And he wants to know who are we planning on trusting. He gives us different alternatives to rely on in this life. The first he always brings up is self. But leaning on ourselves is always trouble; we are weak and certainly don’t know enough to make it all the way through life. Society is another solution that is presented. The idea of leaning on this world for our support, but while we are in this world we are not of this world. There is of course always our stuff or material goods to try and rest on. But they are easily stolen, destroyed, or bad copies that don’t last. Some even turn to their service, trying to satisfy their own lusts and desires. And satan will use this as a means of showing us that if these things we serve can’t do it for us then how can God possibly do anything for us. We must choose wisely which way we are going to lean. Because the only way to lean is on the sovereign creator of heaven and earth. He is our comfort, strength, power, place of rest, and then only one trustworthy to never fail. When we lean on Him victory is assured.
