From Fishermen to Fishers Of Men

Without exception, every follower of Jesus Christ is called to join with Him in His kindom mission of liberation. Christ's call of Peter in Luke 5:1-11 reveals four elements of what this involves:

1. Hearing from Jesus the Word of God
   5:1-3)

   Jesus isn't giving you the Word of
   God for nothing. It's directly
   related to what he intends for you
   to be and do.

2. Carrying Out in Faith Our Master's
   Instructions (5:4-7)

   Jesus isn't calling you to obey Him
   in some future ministry. He's
   calling you to obey right where you
   are, not where you aren't.

3. Being Gripped in Awe by Who Our
   Lord Is (5:8-10a)

   Let our Lord's true nature as the
   Holy One bring you to your knees
   before Him. It puts you in a
   position to truly serve Him.

4. Pursuing in Earnest Christ's Call
   (5:10b-11)

   Respond to God's grace with an
   eager heart that leaves all to
   follow Christ.
