Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
I. Moses' Sermon on the Third Word - Deuteronomy 14:1-21a (Notes by Jim Jordan)
Wearing/carrying the Name means living in wholeness as model images of God.
A. 14: 1-2a - Wholeness in self as God's image:
Who you are: sons of Yahweh
Stipulation: do not deface God's image for the sake of the dead
Closure: you are holy to Yahweh
B. 14:2b-21a - Wholeness in relations:
Who you are: Chosen and separated by Yahweh
Stipulation: Do not eat detestable food or anything “dead.”
Closure: you are holy to Yahweh
