THE SONG THAT SILENCES HELL
Series The Book of Revelation
THE SONG THAT SILENCES HELL. Revelation 5:8-14 KJV Tells us heaven erupts with a song so powerful that it drowns out the accusations of hell and declares the final victory of Jesus Christ. John witnesses the singers of heaven's sweet song—the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders—falling before the Lamb in humble worship. With harps and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints, heaven reveals that worship is both reverent and responsive to redemption. The focus of the song is clear and unchanging: the subject of heaven's sweet song is the Lamb who was slain. The new song celebrates Christ's redemptive work—His blood purchasing people for God from every kindred, tongue, people, and nation, and making them kings and priests unto God. Heaven's worship is rooted not in emotion alone, but in the accomplished work of the cross. As the vision widens, John hears the scope of heaven's sweet song expand to innumerable angels and ultimately to every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and in the sea. All creation joins in declaring blessing, honor, glory, and power to the Lamb forever. This thunderous chorus proclaims that Christ's worthiness is universal and eternal. When the redeemed sing of the Lamb, heaven rejoices, hell is silenced, and all creation is summoned to worship the One who is worthy forever.
