Who Is My Neighbor?

Jesus' account of the compassionate Samaritan, who cared for the robbed and beaten man left along the road from Jerusalem to Jericho, is keenly relevant to the matter of remembering the poor. In this message the context of the account is identified, the lawyer and his first question (:25,'what shall I do to inherit eternal life?') are examined as well as Jesus' first response (:26 'What is written in the Law?'). The message concludes with a consideration of the lawyer's correct answer (:27, love God and your neighbor) and his effort to justify and exempt himself from the implications of Jesus' words, 'You have answered correctly; Do this, and you will live.'
