We Wait in Hope - Advent Week 4
Series Grace Auburn Church Sermons
This Advent sermon reflects on Luke 2:1–20 to show that the birth of Jesus was not accidental but the sovereign fulfillment of God's promises, foretold centuries earlier through the prophets Isaiah and Micah. God worked through kings, governments, ordinary people, and even humble circumstances to bring about salvation, as Christ was born in Bethlehem, laid in a manger, and first announced to lowly shepherds. The angelic proclamation reveals that Jesus is the Savior, bringing good news of great joy for all people, and fulfilling God's covenant to redeem His people and bring light to the world. Through the responses of the shepherds, Mary, Joseph, Simeon, and Anna, we see lives forever changed by encountering God's salvation. The sermon calls believers to trust in Christ, rejoice in the miracle of God's mercy, and wait with living, certain hope—confident that the Jesus who came in humility will return in glory and that, through faith in Him, we have eternal life.
