God's Providential Preservation and Provision
Series Sunday School (Genesis)
The Move to Egypt
Genesis 45:1-28; Genesis 46:1-34; Genesis 47:1-12
INTRODUCTION: This lesson magnificently illustrates God’s providential preservation of and provision for His people. The brothers’ act of hatred in selling Joseph into slavery became the very method used by God to preserve His people during the seven year famine (Genesis 45:4-8). Famine and starvation (desolation) caused Joseph’s brethren to come to him after the second year of famine (Genesis 45:11; Daniel 9:27).
CONCLUSION: The previous lesson witnessed Joseph’s exalted position second only to Pharaoh. This lesson reveals the true purpose and intent of the trials he faced throughout his life. God used these trials to preserve Joseph’s entire race and nation. God’s plans were much bigger than anyone could foresee. We need to understand that the things which occur in our lives may have a much greater significance than we can understand at this time. We must learn to trust God in His wisdom.
