Trouble Comes With Affluence

Solomon was the first of David's descendents to sit upon the throne as promised to David. Solomon was the last of Israel's kings to rule over a united kingdom. The next king that will rule over the kingdom united will be Jesus Christ!

These chapters overview the last sixteen years of Solomon's reign. Unfortunately the record reveals that he did not finish well, even having been the wisest and wealthiest man on the earth. Even he, being wise, wealthy and in full authority of his kingdom, succumbed to the influence of his pagan wives and their idolatrous practices. God had greatly blessed Solomon and he was wealthy beyond comparison, but with the prosperity came trouble. Solomon failed to heed the warnings that had been given regarding the potential to drift and stray from the Lord in the midst of peaceful circumstances and great prosperity.

Also critical for us to remember are the facts that rebellion against the Lord always brings punishment and God remains faithful to His promises.
