There are two reasons why following Christ is wise. We ought to follow Christ because he is God. Based on matthew 19:27ff, we should also follow Christ because of the blessings he promises to anyone who pursues him. It is not wrong to want to be blessed by God, but neither should we overlook the fact that he deserves to be sought after because he is God.
