Rejoice-Your Name is in Heaven

Now what I want to do is just share a couple perspectives with you about pastoral ministry that have helped me a lot, that I've woven into my material for teaching. I thought I'd share it with you. And one of these moves under a heading, under cultivation, I use that phrase that Paul talks about in 2 Timothy 4 when he tells Timothy to pay close attention to himself. And so my whole course on cultivation flows out of that.

One of those is pay close attention to your spiritual life. We all know as ministers, it's easy to become very professional in what we do. And we're so concerned about other people's souls that we can neglect our own. You know that battle. That's a battle in the ministry that we face. And under pay close attention to your spiritual life, one of the things I flesh out because it's something the Lord taught me early on as an aspirant for the ministry and as a minister, and haven't conquered it, but I try to keep it in mind, is to keep your salvation in Christ as the supreme source of your joy as a minister.
