The Heart of a Friend

Why did God contrive this excruciating test for Abraham? Because Abraham was God's friend. In love, the Lord gave Abraham opportunity to show his love by obeying God's commands. In love, the Lord disclosed to Abraham the essentials of that salvation by which his promised seed would receive all the promises & know the Lord as their covenant God - forever. This event is the climax of the Abraham narrative. On Moriah, Abraham learned more about his God: He is Jehovah-jireh - the Lord will Provide. Are you willing to be God's friend, to prove your love by obedience & there, in the crucible of testing, receive more insight into the heart of your divine friend? Is knowing & possessing God, glorifying & enjoying Him, really our chief end?
