I. GOD'S MOTIVATION IN GIVING HIS LAW

A. God is the “supreme lawgiver” Deut. 4:35, 39; Is. 43:10-11
B. Why did God give us His commandments (moral, ceremonial, civil)?
C. Let's therefore seek grace to embrace God's truth and discard Satan's lie

II. GOD'S DIVISION OF THE LAW

A. God's basic moral law is one in character
B. God's basic moral law is two in division

CLOSING THOUGHTS:
A. Let's perish a few “mindsets” tonight!

1. Perish the thought that God doesn't seek to promote your deepest joy – greatest happiness when He details His holy will for us in His Scripture

2. Perish the thought that God isn't quite as “holy” as He used to be

3. Perish the thought that God would be somehow more pleased with you than with the vile and gross transgressors of His law

4. Perish the thought that God will not pardon you because of your great sins (Deut. 4:31)
